IAC Echocardiography is widely respected in the field of echocardiography as illustrated by the support of several national medical societies who each serve as a sponsoring organization.

“Transesophageal echocardiography is critically important for perioperative diagnostic and hemodynamic assessment in patients undergoing cardiac surgery or transcatheter heart interventions. Establishing the process for accreditation for perioperative echocardiography services is a great step forward in ensuring high-quality patient care and is the result of work of many cardiologists and cardiac anesthesiologists who are champions of quality and standardization in echocardiography. It is exciting to see it come to fruition.”

G. Burkhard Mackensen, MD, PhD, FASE
Member of IAC Echocardiography Board of Directors, Representing SCA

“The process of accreditation for perioperative transesophageal echocardiography at the service level will enable facilities to engage in assessment of daily operations, identify and correct potential problems, revise protocols, and reduce variability in imaging and reporting. It is an educational tool, as well as a mechanism to recognize provision of excellent perioperative evaluations. We are looking forward to the work ahead of us.”

Alina Nicoara, MD, FASE
Member of IAC Echocardiography Board of Directors, Representing ASE
