Who We Are

Kathleen Ozsvath, MD, FACS serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Dr. Ozsvath is Chief of Surgery at Samaritan Hospital, St Peters Health Partners in Troy, NY, Professor of Surgery at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Dr. Ozsvath earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She completed her general surgery internship and residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York (now Mount Sinai West), and vascular surgery fellowship at Albany Medical Center in Albany. She is the immediate past President of the Eastern Vascular Society, Secretary on the Executive Board for the American Venous Forum (AVF), Secretary on the Executive Board of the newly formed International Society of Women Vascular Surgeons. Dr. Ozsvath is a published author whose work is found in many respected peer reviewed journals and books. She is also an accomplished speaker and has presented internationally.

Carl Fastabend, MD, FACC, FSCAI, RPVI serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society (AVLS). Dr. Fastabend earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and is a diplomate of the American Board of Phlebology, and has the Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation certification. He is active in the AVLS, serving on the Health Advocacy Committee, and is a member of the American Venous Forum (AVF). Dr. Fastabend founded the Vein Center of Southwest Louisiana in 2011 and has developed a comprehensive vein practice with a special interest in deep venous disease. He is involved in research as well as educating physicians in vein disease and is a frequent speaker at major venous symposia.

Sherry D. Scovell, MD serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society (AVLS). Dr. Scovell is an assistant professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and a board-certified vascular and endovascular surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital where she serves as the medical director. She earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. She completed her surgery residency at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia and her vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Scovell’s clinical interests include superficial vein thrombosis and superficial venous insufficiency. In addition to AVLS, she is an active member of American Venous Forum (AVF) and Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS). Dr. Scovell has been invited to speak at numerous national vascular society meetings and currently serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Vascular Surgery: Venous and Lymphatic Disorders and as an associate editor for author engagement for Phlebology.

Fedor Lurie, MD, PhD, RPVI, RVT serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the American Venous Forum (AVF). Dr. Lurie is the Associate Director of Jobst Vascular Institute of Promedica in Toledo, OH, and adjunct research Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Lurie earned his medical degree at the Urals Medical Academy in 1980, where he also completed his general surgery residency and fellowship in vascular surgery. Dr. Lurie’s clinical and research interests include acute deep venous thrombosis, chronic venous disease and diagnostics of vascular disorders. He is a past president of the AVF and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), the American Vein and Lymphatic Society (AVLS) an honorary member of the European Venous Forum (EVF) and several international venous societies. He serves the Chair of Science of the International Union of Phlebology, as the Director of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, and is a Voting Member of the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee. Dr. Lurie is a published author whose work is found in many respected journals such as the Annals of Surgery, European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Phlebology, Journal of the American Medical Association, Thrombosis Research and the Journal of Vascular Surgery. He is also an accomplished speaker and has presented internationally.

Mark Meissner, MD serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the American Venous Forum (AVF). Dr. Meissner is a professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Washington. Dr. Meisser earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1985. He then completed his residency, his fellowship in Vascular Surgery and his fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Washington. Dr. Meisser’s clinical interests are acute deep venous thrombosis, chronic venous disease and the management of pelvic venous reflux. He is a past president of the AVF and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Vein and Lymphatic Society (AVLS).

Joann Lohr, MD, FACS, RVT, CWSP serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery (SCVS).

Colleen J. Moore, MD, FACS, RPVI, MHM serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery (SCVS). Dr. Moore is a vascular surgeon with Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants in Springfield, IL. She earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. Dr. Moore completed two preliminary years in general surgery followed by two categorical years at the Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown, PA before transferring to the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics in Columbia, MO to complete her training. She completed a two-year vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Moore is a member of the American Venous Forum (AVF) where she was the program chair and currently serves on both the membership and newsletter committees. She is also a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) and serves on their coding committee. She has volunteered with the Inteleos corporation to lead the physician’s vascular interpretation examination and now serves on the Inteleos Board of Directors. She also chairs the technology and innovation committee.

Thom W. Rooke, MD, RVT serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM). Dr. Rooke obtained a BS in Physiology at the University of Michigan and his medical degree at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Upon completing residencies in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, N.Y., he joined the Vascular Medicine section at Mayo, where he now serves as the Krehbiel Professor of Vascular Medicine. Dr. Rooke also founded the Mayo Clinic Wound Care Center. He serves on a number of national boards, committees and societies. In addition to having served as President of IAC Vascular Testing, Dr. Rooke is also the past-president of the SVM, where he has a long history of service. His interests include medical writing — fact and fiction, peripheral vascular medicine, varicose veins, swollen limbs and the art of the medical lecture.

Jacquelyn K. Paige DNP, RN, AGACNP-BC serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the Society for Vascular Nursing (SVN). Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Ms. Paige had over a decade’s worth of experience as a registered nurse at a Level II trauma center in the critical care unit and in forensic nursing, specializing in evaluating patients for sexual assault, domestic violence, and physical elder abuse. She joined the Division of Vascular Surgery at Keck Medical Center of USC in 2016 as a registered nurse while pursuing her nurse practitioner education at UCLA. Ms. Paige became a board-certified nurse practitioner in 2017 and went on to receive her Doctor of Nursing Practice with a focus on quality improvement from UCSF in 2023. Ms. Paige is active in the SVN, having recently been published in the 3rd edition of the Scope and Standards of Practice for Vascular Nursing and has served as a volunteer with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a content expert panelist for the past 5 years. She works with the State of California Board of Registered Nursing as an expert practice consultant. Ms. Paige is a licensed nurse practitioner in California, Nevada, and Hawaii, teaches in pre-licensure nursing programs, and serves as a clinical preceptor for NP students for UCLA and USC. She is active in many Advance Practice Provider committees at Keck.

Sara Skjonsberg, BS, RVT, RPhS Sara graduated from Seattle University's diagnostic Ultrasound Program in 2013 and received her RVT credential shortly thereafter. Her career as a sonographer began with the D.E. Strandness, Jr. Vascular Laboratory at University of Washington Medical Center. She was lucky enough to have giants in the vascular ultrasound world as her mentors, including Dr. Eugene Zierler, Dr. Mark Meissner, Bridget Mraz, Krislynn Barnhart and many others. Her love of the venous system came from the close development of pelvic venous ultrasound protocols with Jean Hadlock, Keri Campbell and Dr. Mark Meissner. Sara has a love for vascular ultrasound education and has shown that by being adjunct faculty for the Seattle University and Bellevue College ultrasound programs and has a passion for being involved with vascular societies such as the American Vein and Lymphatic Society, Society of Vascular Ultrasound and Northwest Vascular Society. Sara is currently working as a clinical specialist with EnVVeno Medical Corporation. Helping to standardized venous insufficiency examinations across the nation for the SAVVE clinical trial, working with Veno Valve a implantable femoral vein valve that is aimed at the treatment of chronic venous disease and post thrombotic syndrome.

Domenic A. Zambuto, MD, RPVI serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR). Currently, Dr. Zambuto is a physician and senior medical director with Vein Clinics of America. He is board-certified in vascular and interventional radiology/diagnostic radiology from the American Board of Radiology. He is also an ABVLM diplomate. Prior to joining Vein Clinics of America, he served as Director of Interventional Radiology at Hartford Hospital. Dr. Zambuto received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and has completed both his residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in vascular interventional radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was Chief Resident in the Department of Radiology and Chief Fellow in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition to SIR, he is an active member of the American College of Phlebology (ACP).

Ramona Gupta, MD, FSIR serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a representative of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR). Dr. Gupta currently works at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and serves as chief of interventional radiology at the Jesse Brown VA Hospital in Chicago. She received her bachelor’s from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. After completing her diagnostic radiology residency at Emory University in Atlanta she completed her vascular and interventional radiology fellowship at Northwestern. Dr. Gupta has 15 years of experience and is certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in interventional and diagnostic radiology. She serves on the Venous Clinical Specialty Council for SIR and her clinical interests include superficial venous disease, chronic venous disease and venous ulcers and pelvic venous disease.

Andrey Espinoza, MD, FACC, FSCAI, RPVI serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a Member-At-Large. Dr. Espinoza is currently an interventional cardiologist and endovascular specialist at the Advanced Heart and Vascular Institute of Hunterdon (AHVI) in Flemington, NJ. He is currently the director of the AHVI Research Division and the medical director of the Atlantic Vascular Center in Raritan, NJ. He received his medical degree from the Saba University School of Medicine and went on to complete his internship, residency and fellowships at the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University Hospitals and the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He participates in numerous professional societies including the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), and the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Espinoza also serves on the SCAI Carotid Committee, as a member of the Vascular Disease Council, as a manuscript reviewer for Cardiac Catheterization and Interventions and as an editorial advisory board member for Cardiac Interventions Today. He has given numerous presentations at professional society conferences including SCAI and Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) and he has authored and co-authored multiple papers in professional journals including American Journal of Cardiology, Circulation and Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions. Dr. Espinoza had made many contributions to the research field by participating in over 50 clinical studies that have led to the development of both FDA approved pharmaceuticals and contemporary technology for the coronary and vascular space.

Deepak Nair, MD, FACS, MS, MHA, RVT serves as President-elect of the IAC Vascular Interventional Board. Dr. Nair is Chief of Vascular Surgery, Chair of Vascular Quality Improvement, and Chair of Medical Education at Sarasota Memorial Healthcare in Sarasota, Florida. Dr. Nair has garnered many other professional honors and accolades, including President of the Florida Vascular Society; President of the Florida American College of Surgeons, President of the Sarasota County Medical Society, Governor of the American College of Surgeons, Chair of the Section on Outpatient and Office Based Vascular Care of the Society for Vascular Surgery, and appointed to governing Boards for many different organizations. Dr. Nair grew up in Manhattan where he split time between Public and Parochial schools. He attended the Bronx High School of Science and then graduated magna cum laude from the City College of New York. Dr. Deepak Nair received his medical education at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where he was a member of the AOA honors society. Despite the workload of his general surgical residency at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Nair was still able to study for and graduate with a Masters in Healthcare Administration as well as Masters of Science in Clinical Research. He also spent two years performing basic science research on colon cancer metastatic disease during this time. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, where he was instrumental in developing Spine technology at the Yerkes Primate Laboratory with Orthopedic surgeons and Venous Valve technology with graduate students at Georgia Tech. Dr. Nair’s clinical skills include all aspects of vascular care including aneurysms, artery disease, vein disease, lymphatic pathology, and photomedicine. He performed the first minimally invasive repair of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm and Aortic Dissection, respectively, in the area. He has a strong interest in complex vascular problems and Laser technology.

Kenneth Rosenfield, MD, MHCDS serves on the IAC Vascular Interventional Board of Directors as a Member-At-Large.

Mary Lally, MS, CAE is the Chief Executive Officer at the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). Ms. Lally began her tenure with the IAC in 2007, serving as Director of Accreditation. In this role she has been instrumental in the development and oversight of the IAC’s MRI and CT diagnostic divisions as well as the Carotid Stenting, Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular Catheterization therapeutic divisions. Ms. Lally has a unique combined background of clinical expertise and association management experience, possessing both a Master’s degree in Radiation Health Physics as well as the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. Before joining the IAC, Ms. Lally gained more than 20 years of clinical, operational and leadership experience, serving as the founding MRI program director at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. In addition, she developed and implemented radiology quality assurance programs with emphasis in the vascular surgery, interventional and cardiology departments at the University of Maryland Hospital. An ARRT-certified MRI Technologist, Ms. Lally is a passionate advocate for quality and safety in imaging.

Laura Humphries, BS, RVT, RPhS joined the IAC in December 2013 and serves as the Director of Accreditation for IAC Vascular Interventional and Carotid Stenting. Her experience includes more than 20 years in the field of peripheral vascular ultrasound. Mrs. Humphries earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, WA. She is credentialed by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Vascular Technology and by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Phlebology Sonographer. She is an active member of the ARDMS, Society of Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) and CCI.
