As an accreditation organization, IAC Carotid Stenting is committed to maintaining a program that balances the changing needs of both the carotid stenting community and the general public by influencing the quality of patient care provided. The IAC Standards are the most important component of that commitment. Composed by physicians, physicists and technologists from the IAC sponsoring organizations, Standards are reviewed periodically by the Board of Directors and revised as needed.
Standards that are highlighted are content changes that were made as part of the August 15, 2025 update. Facilities applying for accreditation after August 15, 2025 must comply with these new highlighted Standards.
Statement Regarding Updates to Interventional Standards
In 2024, the IAC launched an initiative aimed at aligning the Standards across all interventional accreditation programs. This initiative allowed IAC to establish updated Standards that ensure consistent requirements and recommendations across facility interventional programs which enhance patient safety, improve procedural outcomes, and ensure accountability for all IAC-accredited facilities. The updated Standards for Carotid Stenting, Vascular Interventional, Cardiovascular Catheterization and Cardiac Electrophysiology published August 15, 2025 are clarifications or reorganization of existing Standards.
