SVM/SVU Consensus Statement on Doppler Waveforms
The first consensus-based nomenclature for arterial and venous waveforms has been published online in Vascular Medicine (VMJ) and the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound (JVU). This publication reflects a multispecialty collaboration in partnership with the Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM) and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU), with Writing Committee members nominated by both organizations. Society for Vascular Surgery

2021 Vascular Annual Meeting | SVS & SVU Joint Meeting
VAM 2021 will be held August 18-21, 2021 in San Diego, CA. We continue to plan full speed ahead for an in-person, high-impact, meeting where colleagues can once again connect and learn from each other. We’re hoping it won’t be necessary, but if it is, we will be ready to convert the meeting to an innovative and engaging virtual format. The protection and safety of our attendees remains our top priority. The year 2021 marks the 75th Anniversary of SVS. We are planning a year-long celebration beginning at VAM21 and concluding at VAM22 in Boston. SVU will hold its annual meeting on Thursday and Friday, August 19 and August 20, and participate in VAM events on Wednesday and Saturday.

Call for Proposals for the Vascular Laboratory Research Grant
The SVU Foundation sponsors a $5,000 grant given to a member to support research focused on vascular diagnostic testing. The grant recipient must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a member of the Society for Vascular Ultrasound.
  • Be either a student studying vascular ultrasonography, vascular surgery (medical student, resident or fellow), or in a career pertaining to vascular ultrasound for less than 10 years.
  • Agree to present findings of the research at the Society for Vascular Ultrasound Annual Conference for which the presenter will receive a complementary registration.
  • Agree to submit findings of the research for consideration for publication in the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound.

SDMS 2021 Annual Conference
The 2021 SDMS Annual Conference will be held October 14-17, 2021 in Denver, CO. The SDMS Annual Conference is designed for sonographers, students and physicians who use sonography in their practice. The educational program provides knowledge and skills in new sonographic techniques, diagnostic accuracy, enhancements of sonographic instrumentation, and practice management strategies.
