SVM/SVU Consensus Statement on Doppler Waveforms
The first consensus-based nomenclature for arterial and venous waveforms has been published online in Vascular Medicine (VMJ) and the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound (JVU). This publication reflects a multispecialty collaboration in partnership with the Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM) and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU), with Writing Committee members nominated by both organizations. Coming Up: VRIC and VAM 2021 Submission Portals Set to Open
Abstracts for next year’s Vascular Research Initiatives Conference (VRIC) will be accepted beginning November 3. VRIC 2021 is held the day before and in the same location as the American Heart Association’s “Vascular Discovery” scientific sessions. The meeting date and location will be announced soon. Abstracts for both VRIC and Vascular Discovery will be accepted through January 19, 2021. Registration for the two meetings will open January 6, 2021. Learn more»

Quality Payment Program: Proposed Updates Slated for 2021
The COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on surgery and medicine continues, prompting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to propose changes in year five of the CMS Quality Payment Program (QPP). These changes were to take effect Jan. 1, 2021. The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) will compose a comment letter in response to the proposed changes, advocating on behalf of its members. Call for Proposals for the Vascular Laboratory Research Grant
The SVU Foundation sponsors a $5,000 grant given to a member to support research focused on vascular diagnostic testing. The grant recipient must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a member of the Society for Vascular Ultrasound.
  • Be either a student studying vascular ultrasonography, vascular surgery (medical student, resident or fellow), or in a career pertaining to vascular ultrasound for less than 10 years.
  • Agree to present findings of the research at the Society for Vascular Ultrasound Annual Conference for which the presenter will receive a complementary registration.
  • Agree to submit findings of the research for consideration for publication in the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound.
